Dance Recital

Big dance recital last weekend. This was the culmination of weeks and weeks of practice. Not just the hour a week at class, but then NW practiced her dance routine 4 times a day for the week leading up to the event. She took this very serious and her hard work showed on the day of the recital. She did great and didnt miss a step. I dont have a trained eye when it comes to dancing, but I thought she looked great.

I thought this one was funny because all of the other girls are looking at her to see what they are supposed to be doing.

Grandpa John, Rosemary and the rest of the crew.

Grandma M and the rest of the crew.

Even more crew.

here is the class.

Special Day at School

At NW's preschool if you have a summer birthday you get to celebrate your birthday about 6 months early. With 4 and 5 year olds, everything has to be fair and equal. Since her birthday is in July, she celebrated it today at school. They send a bag home with her and she is supposed to pick out 2 of her favorite things to show the class and talk about. This year she brought a doll and one of her Octonaut characters. She wanted to bring all of her Octonauts because in her mind they were all Octonauts and that only counted as one thing. I eventually got through to her and she only brought one.
Here she is in front of the class leading them in the welcome song.

Here she is showing the class the picture that she made for her special day. It tells everyone what her favorite color is, what her favorite food is and what she wants to be when she grows up. Purple, Honey Nut Cheerios and a doctor.

After preschool they all went out to celebrate her big day. Here they are both worshiping the popcorn maker.

LW can devour popcorn. Here is an action shot of her little hands shoveling the popcorn to her mouth. She is a machine when you put a bowl of popcorn in front of her. She loves it.

Laundry Room

So I decided to freshen up the laundry room a little. I added a cabinet, gave it a fresh coat of paint, put in new lights and cleaned it up. Now that it is almost done, the kids love to hang out down there and watch TV and play. It's funny. We have never spent as much time in the laundry room as we have in the last week. The kids want to go watch TV down there and it's the smallest TV in the house.
Since the cabinets were empty, LW thought it would be fun to hide in the cabinets. Somehow she conned me into squeezing in there too. Then she would have mom shut the doors and we wold sit in the dark.

She was in the upper cabinets too.

She insisted on us closing the door.

Switching gears...NW had a Valentines party at school. Everyone brought candy and they read books, played games and made crafts for the day. Sounds like fun to me.

Random pics

Dance class with new outfits.

This picture looks like she levitating. But she's walking on the ice at the pond hockey championship. It was a big deal for her, she had never walked on the ice before. It was hard for her to get her mind around. She was a little freaked out at first.

Big day at the Mall of America. We braved the crowds and spent a couple of hours going on rides and running around.

More Nanny Daddy

It's been a while since the last posting. But we were back to nanny daddy for a while. I had a week off with the girls and we did pretty much the same as before. Coffee shops in the morning, come home and play for a while and then crafts in the afternoon. Before we knew it, mom was back home.
Jenga with a 4 yr old is rough. I spent more time picking up the pieces than actually playing the game.

This thing blew her mind.

That's a lot of steps if you have little legs.

At the science museum acting like a DJ.

Nanny Daddy

I had last week off for Thanksgiving and spent it with the girls. Since I was on vacation, that meant they got to go to a bunch of coffee shops with me. We went to a new one every day...sometimes two. I had a blast and it was the best time off I have had in a long time. They were great for me and it was alot of fun bringing them to new places and keeping them busy. We would run around in the morning, go out for lunch and then come home for LW's nap time. One of the afternoons NW thought it would be funny to start calling me Nanny Daddy. Needless to say, the nickname stuck and she called me that all week. I've been called worse.
It was tough going back to work this morning. I got used to changing diapers, making mac and cheese and doing crafts. I was really turning into Nanny Daddy.
Day 2 - 5 Watt Coffee. Sitting at the bar eating cookies and talking to anyone that would listen.

Day 3 - Empire Coffee. Not very kid friendly.. we ate our cookies and we were gone. Coffee was just OK too.

NW started talking to a guy at 5 Watt coffee and he owned this restaurant. He told us to come and check it out. So we did. It was super busy the first time and we left without ordering.

So we came back on Saturday morning, but this time the whole crew came along. We were there at around 8:00 so there wasn't a line. Everyone was gone for the holiday or still sleeping.

Highly recommend this place for an amazing waffle and a cup of coffee.

The Flu

The flu is making its way though the household. NW was under the weather last weekend and mommy was down and out most of the week. The only people left are LW and dear old dad. We are on drugs, but it seems like an uphill battle.
Earlier in the week we didnt want to expose nanny Anna to the sickness. So I stayed home with the girls and mom stayed in bed all day. LW and I did alot of running around while NW was at school. One stop included coffee and cookies of course.
We went to Bull Run for this one. She told the barista that she wanted a huge cookie and she showed how big with her hands. The barista gave her a cup of frothed milk with sprinkles too. She wasnt amused and didnt even touch it. She did say thank you though, so at least she was polite.
