NYC Day 4
Before we left NYC today we wandered around Greenwich Village. Not much to see down there but there werent any tourist to be found. We got a taste of what it's like to live in NYC. We hung out by the dog park, ate at Crumbs again and ate at a neighborhood restaurant. I think I jinxed us yesterday by saying we hadnt had a bad meal yet. We had one today. The place looked good from the street but once we sat down it was a different story.
We took the train down to Greenwich Village and ended up walking back. It was a long way, about 40 blocks. Alisha was a trooper and made it the whole way.

The Guggenheim

Today we ventured outside of our little bubble. We took the train up to the Guggenheim. I was a little afraid to take the train, but it was safe and easy- once we figured it out. We only went into the gift shop and the center area at the Guggenheim. They wouldn't let me take pictures in the museum so we didn't go any farther. I was more concerned about taking pictures of the building than the artwork. But that didn't matter to them.
I almost forgot, last night we went to see The Jimmy Fallon Show taping. It was a lot of fun. We waited around for a while, but it was worth it. I was surprised how small the theater was. The band, the stage, the announcer and the audience are crammed into this little theater. They make it look alot bigger on TV. The guests were Brendan Frasier, Tracy Ullman and a band called Beach House. Tracey Ullman was the best of the three. I was there to see Jimmy Fallon, so it didn't matter who the guests were. And he gave me a high five.
The food here is amazing. We haven't had a bad meal yet. We had dinner last night at the Carnegie Deli and it didnt disappoint. AW had a $12 egg sandwhich that was awesome. She ate the whole thing. I had a hot dog that was pretty good too. We also have been frequenting Crumbs Bakery. Their cupcakes are unbelievable, I'm sure we'll have another one today.
Later,
EW and AW

Day 2 NYC

We got up early and went down to the Today show. I usually laugh at the people that stand out side the taping of the show in hopes of making it onto TV. Well, today I was one of them. Alisha and I waited for Matt Lauer, Merideth V., Al Roker and the rest of them to come outside and mingle with the tourists. We were on TV a couple of times. The first time we were just in the background. The second time we were right behind them as they recorded a story about a new show on the weather channel. It was pretty cool. Alisha also got her picture taken with Merideth, who was a great sport. She stayed outside and talked to everyone and took a ton of pictures. I was amazed. Matt Lauer was out for a little bit, but then ran back inside. He was outside long enough for us to shake his hand and say hi.
We also went to Grand Central Station, the Chrysler Building and up to the top of the Empire State Building. What a view from up there.

The Big Apple- Day 1
Well, we made it to NYC no problem. Even got to fly first class- thanks to Annalisa. It was awesome. I had a bloody mary at 6:30 in the morning. We got in town, took a little nap and then hit the streets. Nothing like a few hours of wandering NYC. So far we have seen: David Letterman's building, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Central Park, Bryant Park and 3 outdoor ice rinks. We had the best cupcake ever at Crumbs. The Half Baked cupcake- it had cookie crumbs on top and twinkie filling in the middle. Alisha says it rocked.
Tonight we went and saw Wicked at the Gershwin Theater on Broadway. I'm not much for plays or musicals but this was unbelievable.

New Coffee and Bike Shop
A new coffee shop opened up by Lake Nakomis. They sell high end bikes and make some incredible coffee. This guy was making coffee with a bunson burner to heat up the water and it would suck the water up into a chamber. Then he added the coffee on top and let the water gradually filter back down. It was crazy. I've never seen coffee made like this before. It looked like a science experiment.

A picture a day for a year
One of the things I would like to do this year is post a picture a day every day for a year. It could be of anything that catches my eye. This is all in an effort to improve my photographic "eye" and make taking pictures a bigger part of my day.
I didn't get off to that good of a start considering today is the 3rd and I havent posted anything yet. I did take pictures though. You'll have to trust me on this one.
