Alisha's Foot

Here's what Alisha's foot looks like a week after her tumble. Believe it or not, it is getting better and she walking without her crutches.

I sprained my ankle Saturday morning. Yup, I did. We were at Chris and Sarah's visiting everyone. Eric and I headed downstairs to see what Ben was up to and I missed the last two steps. Don't ask why I didn't see them but I just didn't. So, I fell and twisted my ankle. It blew up like a balloon. Eric carried me up the stairs and out to the car. Pretty strong! We headed off to hang out at the emergency room for a couple hours. I found out it wasn't broken. Thank Goodness!!! I really didn't want to be wearing a cast for 8 weeks through the summer. So, after that my weekend has been pretty uneventful. Eric has been doing lots of work around here. I try to do my share but it just doesn't quit work so well. Hopefully I'll be up and walking soon.

Kari & Lilly Were in Town!

Last week Kari and Lilly were in town to clean up their new loft and get it rented. So, we were able to get together. There was a bike race going on right outside their loft last Wednesday. We made the trip down to do some bike race watching and hang out with the girls. It was pretty cool to see all the bikers zooming past ya. Let's just say, me, a stroller and a bike race don't mix well. That's all I'm saying.

It was great to see Kari and Lilly. I can't believe how big Lilly is getting. We can't wait to see everyone on the 4th!

Campin' with the Skogens - Memorial Weekend

So, we headed up to Duluth for the Memorial weekend. Eric, Tim and Max (the dog) headed up early Saturday morning to set up camp with the camper and tent in Jay Cook State Park. When Cathy, Anthony and I showed up in the afternoon the site wasn't ready. There ended up being a mix up at the camp site. So, we entertained the dog and Anthony while the guys got everything set up. Then we were good to go. We hung around the camp and then headed over to the Jay Cook bridge to hike around. Then we enjoyed the evening in front of the fire and ate some yummy smores. The first and last was spent in the tent. We had air mattresses, sleeping bags, sheets, blanket, another heavy sleeping bag over both of us and a space heater. With all that I was still cold. My butt was cold and I shivered all night long. It was horrible. Eric couldn't find me under all the covers. We think it got down to 38 degrees that night. It took me all of the next day to warm up. 

Sunday we spent the day north of Duluth at Split Rock and saw the light house. It was under construction though. So, we couldn't get any good pictures of the place. We had a picnic in Split Rock State Park and then headed back to Duluth. We hung around Canal Park trying to watch a ship to come in. Then off to the park for Anthony to play. He had a blast. It was a pretty big park for him to run on. He sure loves steps. At dinner Eric and I decided to get a hotel. We went to Black Bear Casino just outside of Cloquet. It was the best money spent. $65 for a brand new king size room. Hot shower, warm bed. I have never appreciated a warm place as much as I did that night. My ass was warm!

Monday we packed up camp and headed out for a short hike before taking off. The Skogens went back to the cities and Eric and I headed to Duluth. We haven't spent this much time in Duluth before. It was nice to just relax. We stayed at our usual Beacon Pointe and hung around town. We hit our usual Burrito Union (twice), Fitgers, Sarah's Table and Eddies. Oops, no Eddies; they were closed. We ended up touring the William Irvin boat too. 

In the end all I know is I won't be camping up north until it's at least 80 degrees.

Anthony climbed all the steps up. Pretty impressive. He kept pushing Cathy away to leave him alone. Those little legs had to have been tired afterwards. Mine were!
